Moving paid social handoffs out of spreadsheets
Netflix, Marketing Technology · Product Design lead
At a glance
- Problem
- Netflix’s new paid social experience was blocked pre-launch. It lacked ways to signal when part of an ad was missing or needed review. Without that, agencies would keep using their spreadsheets (and put our 90% adoption goal at risk).
- Constraints
- I had two months to identify the most critical paid social “handoff” points and build them into the existing experience. Engineering capacity was limited so the fix needed to be precise and low lift to implement.
- Solution
- I designed a streamlined handoff workflow in Socialite using existing patterns to keep things lightweight for engineering. Users could now tell when an ad component was required, needed review, or was ready for the next step.
- Outcome
- The feature shipped on time and unblocked Socialite’s global launch. After launch, Netflix’s largest trafficking vendor retired its spreadsheet tracker. The wider paid social launch hit 90% adoption in six months.
